Atmosphere Show

Yesterday, is a hit single of the famous Hip-Hop group "Atmosphere." Yesterday, is also when Atmosphere performed at the Arcata Community Center, where hundreds of teenagers, "green" friendly people, hip-hop listeners gathered to see Atmosphere perform many of the songs that these people have on their favorite playlist in their ipods. Considering that Atmosphere represents Hip-Hop the real Hip-Hop that emerged in the 90's and the culture that comes with this genre of music I had a misconception that most people that listen to this are gangsters, graffiti artists, basically a person of menace to society. My misconception was proven wrong yesterday at the community center while upon arrival I expected no less than two-hundred people to show up for Atmospheres' show. After arriving at the medium sized gym occupied by many sweaty, exhausted, low low eyed people who made up at least 90% of the crowd swarming the stage many of whom were white, and asian. I was in shock simply because I grew up with this stereo type that Hip-Hop is only in the interest of latino, black, and graffiti artists. A big smile ran widely across my face as it decimated my stereo type of Hip-Hop only belonging to a certain group of people because it made me happy knowing that the Hip-Hop culture does not belong to a certain  group of people but can be apart of many people who enjoy the realness, love, and how hip-hop music and the artist who make such beautiful music make it not for the money but for the people.

At The Gym

It was yesterday August 31, 2010 at the Student Recreational Center on campus at HSU, where I spent my late afternoon working out getting some cardio going maintaining my health at its peek. Like any other facilities where a group of people randomly meet to excercise and make sure they do not add those extra pounds there will be rules to keep everything in order to keep people from damaging or breaking the excercise equipment. As a freshmen at HSU I am not fully aware of all the buildings, surroundings, poeple around me, and ESPECIALLY the rules! At the recrestional there is a mat where people are free to stretch and perform vigorous excercises such as curl ups, sit ups, knee hugs, and other excercise. While doing situps I notice this short, stocky, mean, hateful, appearing woman approach me and says "you CAN'T have your shoes on this matt!!!" with a mad expression. Without thinking I immediately apologize and take off my shoes to please her demands! she probably had no clue I was terrified of her! As she leaves I notice that the this gentleman and woman next to me at my right and left have their shoes on and guess what??!!! The furious obscene woman did not tell them anything!! I don't know her reason for telling me to take off my shoes well the only one.... and quiete frankly do not care! but I do care that it was unjust of her to do so!!!
